Method Description


Samples are enriched and incubated following USP method requirements. The enrichment is then plated on media and re-incubated. Plates are then read and results generated based on whether colonies are present or absent.

Additional Information


Bile tolerant Gram negative bacteria grow in the presence of bile salts, utilize glucose and are non-lactose fermenting.
 
Some bile tolerant gram negative bacteria includes members of the family Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas and Aeromonas.
 
This procedure indicates the presence of bile tolerant gram negative bacteria in a sample following the USP 62 enrichment or USP 2021 MPN method.
